First Time Ferreting

I have let 2 people down I asked to come ferreting this weekend, the landowners weren't keen on me bringing people on, but by asking about I ended up getting loaned a ferret and a locator

I only had to spend 20 minutes stopping the terrier thinking the ferret was for killing, I swear there is spaniel in her somewhere. The lurcher pup is only 5 months old, so wasn't much to worry about, just.

I think I took her out too early, another month and she would have been more into it, still showing signs of marking, but wandered off.

I ended up bolting 8 and catching 3, only had 9 working nets in the bag I was given, so as you'd expect when there was a hole un-netted they bolted from there.

Good dose of tapeworm in this one:

I know it's not much but I walked off the field about the happiest I have since the clocks changed, I have more there to go at there and 3 more permissions I need to hit, I reckon there is enough till the end of February :D

Cheers, I enjoyed that, just relaxed, set things up and put the ferret down. I knew there wasn't masses down the warrens but it is an easy place to have a dabble.

She has always been a bit rough with the rabbits and pigeons/crows, I've had her retrieving with the gun and wasn't too bad, but the healthy rabbits in the nets she clamped onto.

She's had 2 rats in dads stables a couple of mixy rabbits and a yound rabbit in the grass, so she isn't too far gone to control.

Your terrier looks very similar to mine just mine has a very slight broken coat and is a little smaller.... is yours a busy type. atb daywalker.

Not at all, she can be, she is very eager to please, in all honesty she isn't like a terrier at all. Has a good nose, can take a directional retrieve (not perfect). She doesn't push on far, but is keen, pretty hard and built like bull for what she is. She is 14.5" tall, just come out of her first season. She wasn't digging at the holes or making a nuisance of herself ferreting.

My dad has her litter sister, 13" and a much better worker in terms of what you expect a terrier to be, she has started to go to ground, mine is showing no interest. I think they complement each other nicely when bushing.
