GROCKLE 55
Early 90's Seen some nuttalls straight from the man himself and they looked very "Bordery" . His early stuff I saw were miniature pits but slate grey . I saw some pics of rough coated stuff that he'd bred too earlier but it was the smooth black bully head that was his type .Wheeler took some of this and added more bull and it has to be said ,neglecting work he went this route I didnt see his early stuff just dogs bred from the early 90's onwards. The dogs i seen were at both ends of the digging scale, some were 11" rooters and some were big strong digging types. These were from the man himself not from other kennels and like i mentioned a couple were very border like in appearance. cheers Grockle Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
I was at a show one day when a none hunting man approached BN as he had a black bitch given to him that he'd been told looked like Brians stuff. Brian confirmed that it was indeed his stuff and told the bloke to bring it to him for a line when in season and he'd buy the pups back for resale. Which in time he did... An old mate of mine once sold a half border/russell to EC, which he went on to show and studd as his own stuff... Funny old world aint it... Mind how you go. Quote Link to post
gnipper 6,543
So Brian never put any of Levi Oakes borders into his stuff then? 1 Quote Link to post
Glyn..... 5,208
i think the bull blood was put in a long time before BN, maybe further back than J.bowmans this isn't a great photo but its about a hundred years ago, i think what is now called the patterdale may of just been a by product of the border terrier breeding programs....Foxdropper be nice to see a photo of those x pups when they are grown a J.Bowman terrier Edited December 20, 2014 by Glyn..... 4 Quote Link to post

pablo esc 1,598
So Brian never put any of Levi Oakes borders into his stuff then? if so it must have been good way back, 70'80. Or so. The was a change to the look, and size of them in nineties, snuppy, and let's say like black Jack Russell, but even up to date, there been workers everywhere. But too much selling abreeding with lad's and what not ain't good, and don't know who ends up with them Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
You only have to flick through Plummers Fell Terrier to see the Border blood in Frank Bucks early dogs Tex being the prime example. Then along the way with his relationship with Breay (who also had Bordery types early on, as shown in the FT photo ) 'other' blood must have been added to change the type to the Skiffle and more so, Rusty types. Like Grockle i've seen a few different types come out of Brians yard over the past 30 years and he took most of his line off them. Rough coats, smooth coats, bigger bully types ( like Miner) to them tiny pug lookin things. Its all supposed to be the same blood.... Quote Link to post

spindolero 1,111
penny, belonging to BN, would you say she looked like a border x ??? Quote Link to post
pablo esc 1,598
Hard to say, people will say different things, but way back the border, and then into the nineties the deny this and don't know if it was used as an outcoss, and if it was your dog would have another more percentage of border in their Quote Link to post
