inan 841
Went out last night because the conditions were perfect dark lots of wind and a slight drizzle, went out with my mate and his lurcher (before i get started theres very few rabbits round me and you can go out some nights and the dog wont get a slip). Back to the story, there was a fox in the first field we lamped and it scarpered as soon as the lamp hit it so we went it to the next field and lamped nothing around so walked up to the top end and looked back and saw a clapper my friend slipped the dog the rabbit got up but immediatly clapped back down the dog could'nt see anything so we left him off the slip lead and walked to the rabbit it got up and the chase was on it sprinted the 50 yard dash to cover, the dog cut of its route and turned it back into the field but the rabbit almost stopped dead from full sprint and doubled back on itself it did this several times twisting and turning up and down the hedgerow making a little ground after every turn and when the dog got close the same would happen but eventually the dog out turned its prey and made a good strike and a good catch, the dog is 28"tts and anyone who works big dogs will no they arent the best turners but seein a big dog turning like this is was a joy to watch and a good chase it was Good post Fk ,made me think I was out with you,its a long time since I heard the expression "clapper "took me back a bit!
