Bought one of these traps,before setting it recommends that for fox's you set the snare stop 7ins measuring from the end of snare, having not snared fox's before i am keen to get this right, it is designed to capture alive so I am keen to get the snare set correctly for British red fox,any help from anyone that has used this trap on British fox's before would be appreciated thank you.

Follow the instructions, they make several models for different Canines and the one sold in the uk is for Red Fox so the info is what you need to do.

I have one of these traps, a good bit off kit but 7" sounds very small, i'll dig mine out tomorrow and & see what it's set at and i'll let you know.

I would say the stop needs to be set at the distance a normal deer stops set at, otherwise the fox will just back out of it ?

I got it set at 8" I will move it up to 9" as recommended by Defra before setting,just been reading there recommendations to do with fox snaring.Just one more question, what sort of success rate is anyone having with this trap.Thank you all for replying.

I have had fairly good success with it, its all about placing it in a good location, make sure the fox cant come in from behind or the side and pull the bait or it will just hit him on the neck. oh and mine is set at 9" aswell
