sandymere 8,263
Had a good one back along, decent general purpose lurcher, no pics other than this one of him and a saluki cross I did at the time. 4 Quote Link to post
wirral countryman 2,110
Had a few of these and a good one is as good as anything out there but some can be a bit moody and slow to mature, here's a pic of the last one about 10 yrs ago, WM 4 Quote Link to post
jossa 971
I have had 3 over the past 12yrs and I cant fault them, excellent all round dogs with good heart and determination. Its a cross I can't fault. Im in limbo wether or not to put my big rough dog over my greyhound. 1 Quote Link to post
Maximus Ferret 2,063
How much collie's in that one WM. Was he half cross to half cross? I've kept mostly collie crosses for 35 years or so. I've a young deer cross bitch now that I like very much so I'm curious about mixes of the two. Jossa, can you tell me how yours is bred too mate. jossa 971
The big fawn rough dog is deerhound greyhound to a deerhound greyhound collie greyhound. The black dog was deerhound greyhound collie greyhound to a greyhound The fawn bitch was deerhound greyhound collie greyhound back to a deeŕhound greyhound collie greyhound. The breeding in the dogs go back 25 years at least. 1 Quote Link to post
sandymere 8,263
If they are doing the job you want then cross them, and the pups should do too. You can then go back in a few years with one of the pups, when proven, back to a DH/collie x grey or such like to stop the line becoming to greyhoundy. Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
I've got an 18 month old bitch here. Sire was deer/grey x collie/grey and dam was deer/whippet/grey. She is very slow maturing and even now is like a 6 week old puppy. She's only been on the lamp 9 times and has bagged 56 rabbits. Also retrieved a few shot hares. So she's doing okay. But "slow to mature" is an understatement. 1 Quote Link to post
