RemyBolt 420
You know when you go into a barn and the rats scatter everywhere? Anyone got any tips on how to take shots in this situation? I'm now helping the farmer by picking eggs and I set a few traps too. The fun bit now is that back in house 10 (where I had crazy shooting about a month ago) they're back. So, the farmer is leaving it unlocked for me. Only issue is, I'm not too keen on moving shots. Last time I took one it was a lucky/panic shot and severed a rat's spine (bloody lucky shot! The damn thing ran straight for me while I was reloading, didn't have time to aim, just point and shoot, glad it was a clean kill). Any tricks to doing this well? I'm thinking of getting an air pistol for just this reason come payday. Edited December 16, 2014 by RemyBolt Quote Link to post
treecreeper 1,136
a terrier, piece of poly pipe. or a just a size 10 boot, your always going to struggle shooting something that's running at your feet. can you see around inside through the doorway? if you can just get them to leave the door open before you go up and pop them off from outside first. 2 Quote Link to post
RemyBolt 420
Bloody genius!!! I'll give that a go. I can sit in my car, in the dark, and just pop happy for a while. Love it. 1 Quote Link to post

RemyBolt 420
Sorry RB could not help my self :D atvbmac  I had considered those options, but the farm equipment in the area ruined those plans :-( haha I think I'm going to try the "open barn/house door, park at a certain angle, then pop rats from inside the car, through an open window" technique. zandy01 3,575
Is peanut butter not used as a good rat bait or am I thinking of something else ??? I'm sure I've read on here about people baiting areas with peanut butter prior to a nights shooting em ??? Quote Link to post
stubby 175
buy a large tin of cheap dog food, punch loads of holes in it with a 3" nail, tie it down somewhere and put a light near it, then sit and wait, the rats need to lap at what oozes out, rather than grabbing and running, gives you time for shots 1 Quote Link to post
