My First Lamp

Hello guys im looking to buy my first lamp, for rabbits, rats, fesants.

 

im shooting with a bsa lighting and a bsa scorpion

 

Would this one be any good, or what would you guys recommend, could i not buy this one and use a 12v battery.

Firstly mate, let me just point out that lamping pheasants is illegal, as is illuminating any bird in a tree at night to shoot it, why bother with a big lamp and huge battery to lug around, why not buy a t20 torch from the likes of Cushty mush on here, for around 35 quid with rechargeable 18650 batteries, it will shine 5 times or more, further than you can use an air rifle, it is small, you can gety different coloured led's for it, and a good battery will last a whole nights lamping, it sits on top of your scope, and when you are done, 2 seconds and it off, just to let you know how good they are, I use one on a .243 for shooting foxes, and I have no problem clearly identifying them @ 250 yards or further.

Go down to the for sale sec. lamps and equipment and have a look at what he has and you will see the set up

 

iv got a t20 on my scorpion cracking lamps

 

here is my set up but the clamp you may get will not be the same

I use a tracer ledray300 and find it more than meets my air rifle requirements and then some. Like the lamps mentioned above filters are widely available and the batteries last well (especially on the lower power setting which is all you need), plus its lightweight and quick and easy to remove/attach.

As Charlie caller pointed out though shooting avian quarry (with the exception of feral pigeon) is a big no no! For starters its really against the ethics of good hunting practice plus if you got caught you'd be in a whole world of the proverbial

As said the t20 is all you will need I use one on the Hmr and it can light up quarry past its range so will be more than adequate for a airifle

if you want a tight beam, get a focusable cree with a lens infront, if you want to lamp a feild up these arnt bad at all, bar sorting a mount (2 cable ties does it nice)

out to about 150 yards, halfa feild lit at a time...shop about you can get a shitty 2 amp pack that comes with it marked as 6000mah 8.4v lol ends in 'fire' the battery make..1 amp cells with famcey day dream capacities printed lol for around 15 quid ish.(any 2 3.6 or 3.7v cells will do it, they both charge to 4.2v full any way..or they blow up...simples lol.)

 

else the T20's do a fair job, a T50 (t20 effert with a 50mm lens) will piss anything airgun range lol and then some.

 

all at bugger all weight.

 

edit... i have one of these with a red cree in, focused up full i get literally only a red square at the other other end, no side spill at all..has to be seen to be beleived lol, its dark inbetween you and where i lights up.

they come at aboout 7 quid upwards shopping about.(in white the T20's are a bit better.. eather way theyre good to 100 yard bunny ID'ing about in red).
