stroller 341
Im not a dedicated pigeon shooter but I have permission on a farm that is mainly arable it has mainly wheat on it at the moment we have decoyed it in the past and really enjoyed the dozen or so birds we managed to tempt in over the couple of hours we sat there. Is it worth getting the decoys out again there is a fair amount of birds about but they don't seem to go onto the wheat. will they come down onto wheat with a few decoys out if I put them on a field they come over using it as a flight path? I will say ive shot at (Notice the "Shot at") pheasant, duck, grouse, black game and partridge and I prefer the sporting pigeon in a good wind to any other bird. My first love is shooting rabbits over my vizsla 1 Quote Link to post
stoggy 598
Place your decoys on the flight path the pigeons are using. You should be able to attract a few towards the decoys. As long as they come into range for you to shoot. They do not have to land in the decoys just come near enough for a look. Well worth trying if you can get on the flightline. 2 Quote Link to post
leslie harold gedge 1,390
hi - look on the flightlines for tallest tree, see if you can get some lofting poles and put 3-4 full bodied decoys in the tree. this should work better than on the crops as the tree will be used as a vantage point where they'll come to sit and watch 1 Quote Link to post
bell 3,598
Stroller, pigeon won't be feeding wheat at this time of year.......will only feed on the grains at the end of the summer. They may be feeling on weeds growing amonst it or flighting over it. Not a great crop at thus time of year but you might persuade a few to decoy onto it".........best of luck but it's normally rape at this time of year. Bell 1 Quote Link to post

trenchfoot 4,243
best to get on the flightlines at this time of year. I have found it useful to stick a few decoys around oaks or large hawthorns in hedgerows that are along flight lines. It helps pull'em in to where your hide is Quote Link to post
