Few With The Drone And Hornet

Recommended Posts

Hiya Ian, interesting write up there! I'm back in the market at the mo for a new foxing rifle, was going to go .22-250 as usual or maybe .223, but this does interest me, I don't generally take long shots, certainly not more than 200yds. This caliber appears to have enough to kill humanely at that range and the ammo marginally cheaper.

The YouTube vids are all using a 20 grn pill though.

Will need to look into this further before putting in my variation.

are you sure you are looking at 22 hornet or 17 hornet, I use the 35 grn hornady in my 22 hornet and it kills very well to around 200 yd,

When you add up the cost I think its about £24 for 100 35gr vmax heads, then the primer and powder. probably cost about 40p a round, plus your getting better accuracy and your own choice of ammo, only downside is you need the equipment and time..

I basically bought it as the back end of the season ,the rabbits can become a bit skitty, I wasn't happy with the HMR due to wind and accuracy, I wanted something that could reach out to 150yd for rabbits and capable of dropping foxes humanely if needed.. drops around 3" at 200yds more or less bang on 100-150yds.
