A New Stable Mate,

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

So today I added another gun to the ultra se and the s410, the addition is a mk2 r10, and like the others its a .177. The day started ringing around gun shops looking for one, and as usual I end up at waterfront fishing in bude to see my friend stuart, I bought the shrouded barrel in one of the most beautiful stocks iv ever seen the graining is amazing, so the rifle its self, it shoulders very well indeed, the balance I find spot on for me and the weight is no problem,I'm not saying its heavy but iv been shooting the for a few weeks so in comparison it is, I mounted my sr6 scope on it for the time being as a new scope aswell was pushing the budget today,me and the wife went down to a valley on one of my perms to get out the wind and I could get going setting it up whilst she went of hunting, the gun was zero'd at 35 yards after 10 shots with it doing around 10p size group's, I was getting concerned after the sixth mag because it was still concistantly inconsistent,140 shots in and the lights came on and we were in business, not quite pellet on pellet but 10 shot groups all under 10 size every time, I must add this is nowhere near as good as my s410 (yet) in my haste I left the bloody bottle in the car so a mile hack there and back I was at it again quite happily punching paper for the next hour, its getting better all the time so hopefully after a morning g at the range the true potential will be there. I didn't run it over the chrono today although it was in the car but I'll do that tomorow and see what its doing power wise, of anything I'd say its a little down but I'm speculating there,oh and did I mention with a hw silencer you can hear more action than muzzle noise, so also impressed with the latest from hw,shame I'm not a 100 fan enough to have bought one today, maybe next time :-) another thing I will add, it would be better for tree finger people like me if the grip was more of a hand full and the recessed thumb groove under the bolt was slightly longer, bit that really is the only thing I can fault it on at the moment

What you mean a bit like this ;)post-94612-0-84003400-1418502699_thumb.jpg The R10s do look amazing don't they? I've only had about a tin of pellets through mine but it only seems to improve as it runs in. Mine also seemed a tad low on power and now chrono's at about 10.5 ft lb which could be better but suits me as its man enough for the job but nicely on the safe side of the 12ft lb limit :) So far the local vermin population hasn't left any poor customer feed back :-D

I have always been put off by buddy bottles. I like the shot count they offer, but just find them plain ugly. At least with Ultras, Scorpions and AA's, Brococks etc, you get classical rifle "lines".

It is nice wood though I must admit.

I like the look of the new R10, it has a traditional size bottle. Just hate the hamster slung underneath.

Fussy old beggar am I.
