Looking for 2 days is not the resolve some may have affinity with,i looked for years and i mean years,id start off with land not worth entering, yet it gave me a foothold and a farmers name to bandy about.I bet its taken me over 30 years to get the permission i have now,if id have called it a draw after 2 days then id have asked myself some serious questions and possibly decided lurchers were not for me,especially if id spent a few hours attempting to get me some legit sport.Until i built up my permission i had an habit of exercising the dogs as and where, then paid a fine or two for my indiscretion,as we are want to do at times. Its easier to lamp, ferret and ratch about without having to look over the shoulder, yet a lurcher needs its exercise and the majority poach or poached, the only way at times, leave the land as you find it,respect the farmers stock and property and do what as to be done, yet 2 days,c,mon.

i think the issue of permission is all relative. these days the consequences of being caught running dogs on land where you have no permission are harsher and the public is more aware.

20 years ago i never had any permission, was out 3 or 4 times a week and regularly got a tug by the law but never really suffered. views have changed and maybe i'm a little wiser ( or have mellowed) so i only run now where i have permission.

yes its hard to get but keep at it. put yourself where farmers are going to be. the local hunt is a good place. they all rely on the hunt to collect fallen stock. hard work and perseverence will pay off.

find getting ferreting permission is easier, soon as i mention lurcher thats it.. try get your foot in the door by ferreting, gain abit trust then you might have a better chance with running dugs

agree with that. i got mine through shooting. farmers have stock and are wary of dogs. they don't understand that we have bothered to stock train our dogs. its all about building trust
