bigmac 97kt 13,806
First off welcome to the MAD HOUSE i dont no about the a&m Cylinders but the scorpion cylinder fits them and will up shot count a lot more and even better if you get it reg,d . the ultra is a cracking bit of kit but it all comes down to what you want it for hunting or plinking . the shot count is ok if your hunting as you will not need all of them any way unless you have a perm that is over run with vermin lol. But if its for plinking it can be a bit of a pain having to fill it all of the time . Iv limited my grandson to 2 fills at the range with his ultra because of this, he then changes to one of his other rifles more his springers and his ultra is put away for when i take him hunting here is his ultra in 22 atvbmac  1 Quote Link to post

The one 8,495
We go up as far of your neck of the woods for a bit of ferreting some nice country up there Quote Link to post
walker smith 12
Hi thanks guys the perm I've got for a start is good for the Ferals as there are a few good sized barns and for the last few months I've just been shooting targets, most of the time getting the feel for the gun an shooting off the car bonnet. Using two sandbags but I'm recently fitted a Harris bipod and as such I've not had the chance to try it out due to our lovely Scottish weather. Most of my shooting will be done off the bipod, And reading posts on here I think ille stick with the ultra se. As I was thinking of getting a hw100 as well. But looking at some of the previous posts their as accurate as one another, or some are for one and some for the other but mind you (trying a we Scottish joke with this weather most of us would preffer a bit of the other ) Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Hi mate and welcome! There's nothing wrong with the Ultra SE you have as far as accurate hunting and target work goes. You are starting out the right way by getting back into shooting with proper practice, getting to know your rifle and its limits; and yours; and I salute you for that. In time, you'll come to know whether or not your rifle needs an upgrade on its reg or, are you shooting perfectly successfully and happily as it is now. If you feel that your rifle would benefit from an A&M upgrade, at least you will be a better position than anyone to know how that will turn out for you. Looking forward to reading you posts about your shooting with your BSA. ATB Simon 1 Quote Link to post
treecreeper 1,136
Welcome mate, I come up aberdeen sometimes with work. There is a an airgun club up there but it was shut when I was last up. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
I do believe that the Scorpion SE air cylinders fit the Ultra action, so get one of those regulated and really up the count! Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
Hi and welcome , have a look on XTX AIR and speak to Darrin http://xtxair.com/bsa-scorpion-se--ultra-se.php IMO Darrin is the best person on BSA guns , I had my ultra regged by Darrin about 4 years ago and never its never let me down 1 Quote Link to post
walker smith 12
Hi villaman and secret agent mole thanks that's a good bit of info I do fancy getting the ultra se regged. And I notice your saying the scorpion cylinder fit s it to up the shot count again. But what about the light weight cylinders from is it a & m gunsmiths would one of them be lighter and also give me more shot count any info much appreciated Quote Link to post
walker smith 12
Thanks for the welcome as well guys Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
Don't think a&m do one for the ultra , I still say you are better of having it regged , no power curve no sweet spot and each shot will be with in 6 fps or less with the right pellet 1 Quote Link to post
walker smith 12
I'm defo getting it regged I alse emailed Mandy at a&m but they hadn't a ultra se there to give me a quote on price etc. but looking at price of the reg and tunning then the price of a scorpion cylinder am I better going for an hw100 as well. As I'm happy with the way the ultra se shoots it's just the shot count Ide like increased. And as the hw is considerably heavier.so guys what's the verdict spend roughly £400 or more doing the se up or spending the extra on a hw100 o the joys of an air gunner this is probably going the way of many other topics some of you saying go for the ultra tart up or go for the hw100 with more shots. Right what's your thoughts on an ultra se with reg an tune up against a hw100 straight out the box what's the better gun then guys Quote Link to post
bigmac 97kt 13,806
Iv say,d it many times the ultra even out of the box will match any hw100 any day . BUT AS MUCH AS IT PAINS ME TO SAY IT the hw100 is a better rifle and this PAINS ME MORE even the hw100kt Yes its a tage on the heavier side but you will get used to it Hw100 more shot count A loading mechanism next to none ,the best out there bar none and as accurate as they come bar none plus the a&m cylinder will fit this bsa ultra cracking rifles and up there with the best low shot count and dose need to be reg,d to increase shot count ok out in the field but not when plinking at the range and good out of the box If your willing to push the extra £££££s then get the hw100 all day long but handle a few first and see witch model suits you as the full length hw100 gives you even better shot count and you may not need the a&m cylinder atvbmac  1 Quote Link to post
