hello ive recently purchased a cocker spaniel puppy age 5 months I would like to no whats my first steps of training I only whant my dog for rought shooting and bushing ive always had dogs trained in the past but its time for me to give it a go my self all help will be greatful

i'm no expert on training spaniels.......but I would have thought you should get the pups recall mastered first and getting it to stop when you command it to....... so you have at least some control over it when you take it out.......then progress from there,

the pup needs to respond to your commands and I do believe the sharper the response the better......

just my opinion,,,,,,,,

What's happened to your 14 month old Cocker in your earlier posts?

still got the 14 month old but recently found out she has a ligament problem which is causing her problems .so decided to get another pup and let my wife have her as a pet .....but she can come out on occasions regards

also I carnt seem to get my 5 month old cocker to carm down enough to train walked her to try and get her less exited.but it hasn't worked any ideas
