Brigzy 1,298
Obviously the Castle and all that's in it is worth a look. The little Bob dogs grave and his masters and on the way the cafe where Rowling wrote Potter. Princess St Just the general feel and architecture of Edinburgh is special I think. If you don't mind a further 4 hr drive North go to Fort Augustus right on the southern tip of Loch Ness Lovely little village Few nice pubs and bothys Nice people use it as a base for a day or two Boat trip on Ness and visit Culloden Battle field 40 mins North of Augustus. The drive up to Edinburgh thru Northumberland is nice But the drive to Fort Augustus from Edinburgh is Special Stop of a Spey Bridge and take in the Memorial to the Marines and other servicemen lost. Four hours from Edinburgh to Fort Augustus ? Are you walking the dog Max ?

Inverness itself is nice for a visit and if you drive up through Glencoe you would love it....

Country Joe 1,411
If the weather is nice, ha ha, you can drive through Glencoe which is stunning, make yourself to Oban, then get the ferry to Mull, and finish of your holiday staying in the hotel on Iona, beautiful wee island with a lot of history, the ferry from Mull to Iona only takes 20 mins, you go as a foot passenger, cars not allowed on the island. But as i said all depends if you get a decent weather break.
