Air Rifle Set Up For Rats

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Got a barn full of wheat locally that is over run with rats, have tried poison, but with so much food available is proving difficult.

Have an Air Arms S400 air rifle, so think I should shoot a few.

Without going mad on costs, what set up should I have?

Red dot laser?

Light?

both?

Any help greatfully received

Chris

I would forget the idea of a laser and just get a red lamp. Preferably one with a low power setting. You just need it to illuminate the rats. Not acheive eye shine at 400yds.

There will be loads of Cree style red led torches on eBay.

Don't forget the torch mount.

cant add anything that hasn't already been suggested other than good luck and enjoy its cracking sport.

edit, a sony handy cam with nightshot plus could be a cheap nv if your only at short range. just seen one for sale with a rifle on here he might be willing to split.

I use the max pro with a dimmer and other than the wires it's the mutts. Although you can get a smaller stock mounted battery to avoid the trailing wires. The dimmer is a must.

The red snap on filters become a loose fit over time and also throw a halo of white light where they join to the lamp. Tape soon sorts that.

So that`s a thumbs up for the mini?? or just the maxi?

Nothing wrong with Deben lamps, it's just the wiring and shite connectors that let them down.

Change the supplied clip on scope adapter to a 2 piece alley scope clamp and as Bry said above, get a lithium battery
