rob284 1,682
the dogs spewed it. After 3 tries with a months break in between, just doesnt want to know. Long wait till summer before i can get a pup, then another 14 month+ till its of age. The joys of terrierwork eh. Quote Link to post

spiderfly 111
Ive had plenty of Wankers ! But a lad I know had one and he tried it at 18 months, no walked after 5 min a couple of times, rested and tried it again and again all season, but no good ! So gave it to his younger cousin for bushing rabbits, he hunted it all spring and summer and killed a few rabbits and rats with it! Dog was fit and well hunted so he was stuck for a dog and brought on the dog at the start of this season and the dog has been dug 4 times and is mixing well! So now he has to get a different terrier for the cousin! Dog was nearly 2 and 1/2 before it started right! Now I know that's a freak one and that dog could jack but a terrier is only as good as it's last dig! 4 Quote Link to post
MIK 4,756
Thats the thing Spiderfly how do we know it was a freak as most will never be given that amount of time and chances which is understandable ...all we can do is get terriers from the best of breeding thats available to us ,feed them bring them up , enter them correctly and the rest is up to the dog 6 Quote Link to post

dillydog 8,462
I've a young dog on at the minute who's over two years old and is still piecing it together. Age is just a label, it's up to the owner to bring out what's in the terriers breeding. When did it become a race to have pups enter early ? And who's to say when enough is enough with the youngsters chances ? 16 Quote Link to post
HPR 1,160
If you can't get another dog till.summer i'd just keep at it with this dog yeah it could be a waste of another 6 month but then again it might not yeah i think we all know when there a jacker but like i say keep it until summer also if it was mine i'd tie it up out side the digs for 6 month and even if its screaming to go don't be tempted to let him 14 months he's just a baby what lines is it if you don't mind me asking 2 Quote Link to post
rob284 1,682
Its 17 months now. According to the lad who i bought it from, the sire is gould and mother parkes. The parents are well worked. But i can see the dog has lost that spark. It wont even mark an occupied earth now. Quote Link to post

It just doesnt like teeth mate. If you lay it of for 6 week then after that it wont mark, its telling you the dog doesnt want to know. I sure aint going to force it down. Quote Link to post
