symnsm 6
Guys the rabbits ive been catching this year are full of fleas. Is this because of myxi ? I say that because earlier this year the dog was catching and bringing em back to me, and all the ones that had myxi had fleas. Anyway the myxi seemed to die off along with the rabbits that had it, and now the rabbits the dogs catching are full of fleas as well, but seem myxi free. Any ideas ? Quote Link to post

Dewclaw69 484
i used to shoot and ferret a sand quarry where all the rabbits were infested with fleas. but never had myxi on there in the 6 or so years we were working it. the fleas won't be on the rabbits because of myxi but myxi is transmitted by the fleas. 1 Quote Link to post
symnsm 6
if thats whats needed then so be it. The ones hes been catching have left him with fleas. I use advantage flea treatment now it seems very good, also now I keep a flea collar on the dogs at all times. Seems to be the only way i can keep the fleas in check ! Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,025
Very often whilst ferreting ,,,I will get the odd rabbit that's riddled with them In particular bunches in the ear,,,yet other rabbits have hardly any on...... But I've found the best way of dealing with these,,,,is to put them in vins pile whilst he's not looking,,,and of course taking out any clean healthy ones he's cought ......simples,,and everyone's a winner....apart from vin 1 Quote Link to post
symnsm 6
Yes I agree Tomo just found it strange that ive never seen rabbits so riddled. Like Qbgrey said lets hope a cold spell might kill them off. Quote Link to post
