tillylamp 1,830
hi, im after a bit of advice, I am thinking of putting some kind of night vision on my air rifle for a bit of ratting, is there some thing I can put on my scope without having to have a screen etc..... I would rather be looking through my scope, im not interested in recording it just simple but good, I've never had the night vision set up so im a bit green around the gills on this one, if there is such a item in which im looking for were is the best place to get it from? and how much are they? any advice will be appreciated and thanks in advance. thanks tl Quote Link to post
Rabid 1,936
I had a pulsar add on unit, nifty onto the back of the scope in seconds, it worked, but I found the shooting position unconventional for me, head was way too far back, so that meant moving scope as far forward as possible every time I. Wanted to use it and move it back for daytime use, ended up been far too much hassle for me, I also found my scope was supposedly not great for an add on unit, it all got too much so rather than mess around I went out and bought a pulsar n550 day and night scope, then I got another rifle to keep it as a dedicated night gun, liked it so much I got the n750 as well, great bits of kit, and really pleased I scrapped the other set up, even if it cost an arm and a leg in the long run ! 2 Quote Link to post

villaman 9,983
I hate the TV screens ,another one for pulsar N550 , Pulsar are way ahead of all the other NV kits IMO. I am selling my Pulsar N550 with a Sony Doubler ,so I can buy the new Pulsar N870 the one with a range finder. If you want a add on have a look at the NT300 from nite-tek 1 Quote Link to post

secretagentmole 1,701
People think you have to mount the screen on top of the scope. You can hang it off the side to give a more natural shooting position! 1 Quote Link to post

treecreeper 1,136
People think you have to mount the screen on top of the scope. You can hang it off the side to give a more natural shooting position! Mount it in any position its still S**T imo each to their own mate some set ups are shit granted, but if you get a decent rig for the money nothing can match it, I have a tubed unit and I prefer my camera set up, its lighter and because its on the same gun, same ret, same zero and aim points just two mins to clip it on, the position doesn't really bother me, iv got used to shooting with it the only thing is the light from the screen. I need to get a filter for the screen and iv tried contacting the people that make the ir as they now do adjustable power but no joy up to now. my advice to the op would be see if you can get out with someone and have a butchers at as many as you can before you spend your cash, a lot of reviews are abit biased. paulk73 151
i find, once used to shooting with the screen, the shooting position becomes easier and i find standing shots seem to be easier to take than in the normal shooting position. Quote Link to post
RemyBolt 420
With screens, be careful. I had an issue with the 'egg room' I was in being lit up by the screen on my home made night vision system. Made me very obvious and didn't see many rats at all! Sucked. Ended up draping a hoodie over me, which later became a funky blanket to stop the screen shine from illuminating anything behind me, or me. ZERO experience shooting with a NV system that doesn't use a screen. Sorry. Quote Link to post
PLEDGEY 496
How much are you looking to spend. I use an Archer Starlight add on , Nightmaster 800I/R and a butt extender. It'll fit on any of my rifles without having to re-zero, like I have to with the Pulsar N550. Battery in the Archer, one C123, lasts 60 hours. Batteries in the Pulsar, well, it just eats them. Adrian Kenny 64
I converted my digital camera wacked on a seben digiscope mount and a strong IR illimuninator on top and just look at the screen on the back of the camera. only about two inches from my normal eye relief. Just remove the IR filter off the digital camera, I have three. Quote Link to post
