Spectacular Failures. . . Ones That Got Away.

Hello all.

We can all do post showing the end of the day results and say how wonderful our hunting partners are etc etc..Or the odd video showing our Curs catching the game in style etc.

But what about all the near misses and complete failures to catch the bunny or whatever it was back in the good old days Pre-Ban.

I can tell you myself without doubt that my dogs are no better than anyone's...I often see runs that a Labrador would have done better on and misses of an epic proportion..I find myself uttering foul mouthed expletives and tirades of abuse at my humble hunting partners.

If I'm in company of another person you can guarantee that their dog will be the perfect example of a text book Lurcher and mine will obviously make me look like a Pratt !

Its all good fun and games however you want to look at it .. For me its what keeps me going and interested in improving my team.

I'll start us off with this beauty of a miss. . . Watch the dog use its skills to turn around ( like a steam boat on the Mississippi ) and fail to follow the bunny which ended up running up a very long slope behind me whilst the dog pretends to be looking for it....lol

Now That's What I Call.... Shite !

PS..excuse the language

Personaly,..I think a few lads take themselves a wee bit too seriously... They sometimes expect their dogs to possess noble qualities, that they do not have themselves ,..indeed,..more than a few wan

Thank the Lord, thought it was just me.

Isn't it sad that our dogs' performance affects our status within our group. How we all want to be accepted, applauded, even respected, and the poor old dog has to carry that burden alone. For me, com

I know I'm just a glorified game carrier...hehehee

Don't forget I've got lots of these videos.

Sometimes there's just no excuse you can make for the dog when it misses so badly... you just have to call it like it is.

The bitch i have now is possibly one of the strangest and most peculiar of animals, when she was born and her markings followed her Great Grandmothers,a first cross Collie cur,i possibly knew what was to come. She will work and graft to a decent enough standard until she,s in new company or around dogs she does not know, then her nuances kick in,half hearted chases and pulling away as she is about to strike, refusing to jump and a sullen and sulky nature, then when in company she knows she resorts back to her usual self. She does,nt do it all the time, just at the wrong moments.

There's nowt as funny as folk and dogs matey. . . seen grown men wanting to fight each other over the bloody things...lol.

You should try a week or 2 with my old dog..she,s a neurotic beaten up rescue dog from a previously bad owner. . . Now the tales I could tell about the fun and games I've had getting that dog to a decent working standard could fill a book. . . Faults a plenty I can tell ya. . .lol. Its taken me a few years to learn all the little triggers and tricks to get her where she is today... That's a happy old content dog that could fill your freezer any/night of the week.

But I don't think many men could keep her without losing there patience and spoiling her..

The young dog has been a total pleasure from Day one..No trouble at all..lol.

The lessons learnt from such mutts make life run a tad smoother when we move on to a more rational hunting companion.
