briggo 2
Ive just picked up a couple of buttons marked p.o.h. and wondered if they were otter hunt buttons Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
I looked in the book "A chain of bubbles" by Rod Adair for you. The Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire Otterhounds button is marked PCOH. In the chapter on buttons he lists Unidentified Otter Hunt Buttons and for the button POH he says "P O H silver domed one piece button, raised POH in old English on a frosted background. No back mark." Hope this helps and maybe someone on here could tell you more. Or a letter in Hounds magazine perhaps ? 2 Quote Link to post

spindolero 1,111
a local Pembrokeshire rugby club are known as the otters , and in the club there are a number of masks and the date/place where they were taken by the otterhounds. Quote Link to post
Mr B 2
I have it in the back of mind that this question has come up before, possibly in Hounds Magazine and I think the answer then was that it was Peter Ormerods Hounds which were a private pack of Staghounds hunting during the early part of the last century. neil cooney 10,416
But only a little bit Briggo, Mr B's answer throws a spanner in the works. Would a small private pack have it's own buttons ? Let us know how you get on. Quote Link to post
Tiercel 6,986
A pity GTE is not with us any more, I found an old thread where he gives some history on Peter Omerod. http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&ved=0CC0QFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thehuntinglife.com%2Fforums%2Ftopic%2F250087-liverpool-foxhound-or-beagle-pack%2Fpage-9&ei=d_Z4VMHbIquU7Qa26IHQBA&usg=AFQjCNGgZhoEexO2u4lAWCYkz4bqWoy3bQ&bvm=bv.80642063,d.ZGU&cad=rja Also found this that states he was joint master of the stag hounds. http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCEQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cravenherald.co.uk%2Fnostalgia%2Fnostalgia_history%2F7989554.The_Lord_who_founded_a_successful_deer_colony%2F&ei=d_Z4VMHbIquU7Qa26IHQBA&usg=AFQjCNH7321SDyERi8Rmp0UbOLKyBOvBxw&bvm=bv.80642063,d.ZGU&cad=rja TC Quote Link to post
