Nobby8126 96
Woke up to a lovely brisk morning and a day off where it wasn't hammering down. My ferret finder turned up up the day previous so the the only thing to do was to pack up the ferts and the wife and head down to some permission. Upto now I have only been letting them explore small sets as they are this years litter. Walked the hedgerow found a few sets so I showed the good lady how to set the nets and proceeded cover some holes. Collared up my frisky Jill which was an event in itself and we were off. The first few sets had nothing happening and my fert was not staying under for long. Change of fert and boom first bolt into a poorly set net ( thanks darling) and away it went a finger tip away. My Jill had popped straight back down so I quickly checked the rest and we were good to go. Another bugs peered out the hole but thought better of it turned and scurried back in. Bad move. 2 mins later it hit the same net ( this time set correctly), pursed a treat and with a swift blow dispatched. First catch for me, the wife and the fert, made up doesn't cover it!!! So we pack up and paunch shortly after, treating my ferts to some liver as a thanks for hard work and another first. The first time she had mistaken my finger for food and boom teeth in. My own stupid fault. Just as I thought my day couldn't get better my warden (wife) went for a burton over the spade and after a comedy stumble was starfished on a muddy field, karma for not setting the net right. All in all a top morning and can't wait to hit some more. Me and the ferts are utter novices and look forward to gaining experience together. 4 Quote Link to post
