Sound Moderator

I will be getting my new CZ .17HMR next week , it has a 16" barell and a tuned trigger (Roding Armoury job) but I have no idea what moderator to put on it.

I have been advised to put a SAK on, but a mate of mine says a JLS stalker, I have heard his .17 and its very quiet.

Very big moderator though, its like a coke can

 

I was wondering if any of you experts have any thoughts on the matter,

Do you really need one.It really spoills the handeling of the gun for me.I will only use one if i have too.

On some parts of my permission there are houses near by, so I thought it might be nice to try and shut it up a bit. I did not know they messed the gun up,

 

what do you think is the best round?

I have a PES on my 223 and i have just got a 17 HMR from SYSS. Ive got a new Bush for the PES and im taking it in to be reamed out so the PES will fit my 17. Some say that using a full bore moderator on a 17 may be overkill and might not work to its full capacity due to the fewer gases the 17 creates. When its fitted i will try the PES andv the saks thats fitted to my 22. keep you posted

Bedlington, dont bother mate, a fullbore mod like the pes [even the scout] is too large volume wise, for the hmr. If you really want a pes, he does a special one for the hmr, i helped roger fit one the other day, and it was excellent, but if i,m honest, not a lot better than the sak, which i think is the best hmr mod going, for the money.

I will give Roger a bell and find out about his modded one, I am getting the CZ sent down from him anyway so might as well get the moderator from him as well. Roding are doing the trigger up for me, I cant wait, should all be up and running on Wed or Thurs,

Roger would have done you the trigger too buddy, on a new gun he usually just charges £25 i think, not to worry, you will be pleased with it, they are some gun.

Is that the hollowpoint? i havent tried them, as i like the 17 grain ones, it was designed for more penetration on larger animals like fox before expansion, ive heard somesay good, and other say absolute shite accuracy wise.

:11: pes do a good mod for .17 dont know about the sak but baldie seem's to have coverd go with him
