*Sigh*. Ok, John. It's late and I was just about ready to mung out after a Great evening. I've had a few pints of Guinnii and even a celebratory (early!) measure of JD! :D But, as ye appear to be asking a sincere question, the answer to which may help enlighten a few people into the bargain? I'll give it a shot. And I'll Try not to make it seem droning or over involved.. K? Here goes:

Few people, in my experience, have ever been proud of having pests. That is to say; It's something they'll hide and even lie about. Thus they'll either try to quietly manage it themselves, or else they'll beg the professional to 'Be Discreet'. Either way, result is that ye never know who around ye is poisoning rodents. So ye don't know if ANY rodent has took a dose. Ok?

Add in the fact that professionals get to use some pretty 'good' stuff, inside certain buildings and structures, and ye have the potential for some well loaded rodents turning up under Your nose as next door discreetly has Their roof space treated. See? And these mice will look the same. Act the same as any other 'normal' mice. But they may be carrying a dose of top drawer stuff.

Now, LD50 (I'm taking it everyone understands that term? If not, Google it) Tests show us that a Dog or Cat would have to about consume that 'top drawer' full of bait filled rodents to cause themselves harm. Mice need only a pinch. Rats a few pinches. And how much bigger than a rat is a ferret? Would You like to LD50 ye ferret on the lethal dose of ingested levels of the most deadly baits, as presented with each 'loaded' mouse meal? I sure as hell wouldn't. It'd be like Russian Roullette.

And, I repeat: No One tends to advertise that they are having pests treated. They'll even deny it if asked. Thus ye really have to way of knowing if and who might be poisoning Any mouse which you happen to come across in the wild state. Farmers and Gamekeepers too can Legally get the 'better' baits. So who says ye safe in the countryside? Ye Don't Know that snackette's safe. If it is this week? What about next month? How do ye KNOW that No One around ye isn't baiting those mice - or hitting rats and the mice getting involved as the rats die back?

See? So, I mean; Fine. Sure. Yeah. Argue with me. Take me to task. Try to pick holes in some minor point I may have got slightly askew somewhere above. " Fetch The Troll! " But WHY play Rodent Roullette with ye ferrets? Is it not clear now that an Unnecassery risk is involved? To my mind, it's just not worth it.

And now, if ye'll excuse me? :drink::yes:
