armdog 196
was supposed to be meeting up with a few lads and going to one of there perms but life got in the way ! rather than waste the day me and my 12 year old son morgan went to one of my small perms that ive only lamped before, it comprises small well grazed fields with warrens running under walls , my young ferrets have been a disapointment to date and have only bolted 2 rabbits on 3 outings and they have never worked deep and have messed around in the nets, today the penny dropped, first warren the old border terrier marked solid, i netted up , entered a ferret and she rocketed straight to ground GOOD GIRL , i then looked round and Juno ( my 9 month pup ) was gone, obviously too boring to watch me set nets and the other fields had a lure to her with rabbits on the surface, i was forced to shout her and then bollock her ! too much noise and the ferret re appeared, she didnt mess in the nets and after a few moments hessitation let me pick her up, with pup now firmly on my heal we walked to the next field and netted up, there were 12 holes my side of the wall and 3 on morgans, hes never killed a rabbit so this was going to possibly be his time! i entered the ferret and she went straight in , the dogs followed the action under ground and the 1st rabbit hit the net, now the previous excertions the ferret had bolted 1 then refused to re enter, this time she didnt even surface, bang rabbit number 2 hits the net, all on my side so morgan was feeling a bit bored and resorted to watching the action on tip toes leaning on the wall, third rabbit appeared from a bolt hole and quickly back netted its self rabbit 3 and now the ferret surfaced, she bobbed around a lot so i boxed her , we walked around a bit to try and find a run for the dog but finished with 3 good result , quality time with my lad and the ferrets finally going deep good day all in all Edited November 22, 2014 by armdog 4 Quote Link to post
