Blackbriar 8,569
A comfortable win sees UKIP gain their second elected MP in Rochester and Strood. Nigel Farage's grin got noticeably bigger as Mark Reckless, the Tory defector, took the seat with a 2,900 majority (49.10% of the vote), while the Conservatives came in second. CamMoron had personally headed his party's campaign, visiting the constituency five times, and has vowed to win the seat back at next May's General election. Millipede says it was a 'devastating' result for the Tories, conveniently ignoring the fact that his own vote has fallen away, in what was, until recent years, Labour territory. The LibDem's, supposedly the 'third Party', came a humiliating fifth, and lost their deposit, with only 349 votes (around a fifth of the 1,692 votes the Greens managed). There are more rumours of defection from the Conservatives, Phillip Hollobone and Peter Bone being the most frequently mentioned. Rochester and Strood was UKIP's target seat number 200-odd, so the General Election could see a UKIP group in Parliament - anyone betting on them holding the balance of power ??

Country Joe 1,411
Watch the SNP wipe Labour out in Scotland come the election, they could end up holding the balance of power at Westminster. the Scottish people don't like the three Amigos, Cameron, Milliband and Clegg, and Ukip wont get anywhere up here.

Blackbriar 8,569
Bearing in mind the changing situation in Scotland (thanks CJ !), the chances of a second coalition Government looks increasingly likely - maybe even a three-way ? (Could have picked a better phrase there !) Farage certainly believes so, and it doesn't take a genius to work out that his first demand, in return for his support, will be a full and proper referendum on UK membership of EU. The only party that will guarantee a referendum is UKIP .......................

Brigzy 1,298
You're right, Max, if a scenario arose where the SNP formed a coalition with Labour to form a government, they would turn Britain into the Socialist Republic of Britanistan and get rid of our nuclear deterrence, open the floodgates to immigration and become a client state of the EU.
