Bolting To The Dogs,,,pup Cought A Black One

Had a cracking day today up on the hils,,,I took my terrorist Ruby the border,,,and my 9 month old lurcher pup Bonnie ,,this is only Bonnie's second time ferreting,,,and she performed very well,,,from the first warren of the day,,,stood focused on top listening to the action underground...

 

The second warren was to really show us what she was made of,,,we bolted 5 from here,,,with Bonnie missing two,,,wich you would expect with a novice,,,but she did catch 3,,,one of them litrely in mid air as it bolted out of a hole high on a bank,,,to see a compleat novice pick one out the air like that is a rare ocurance,,,,then she cought one only a foot from the entrance as it bolted,,,then the 3 rd was a little run,,,and retirive,,this bunny happened to be a black rabbit,,,and vin got it filmed on camera,,wich was nice,,,,shame he didn't get the mid air catch,,,

 

Then we split up doing difrent warrens,,,the next warren saw two bolt and escape,,,and 2 cought by Bonnie ,,,

 

We carried on like this most of the day,,,somtimes together on the same warren,,,and somtimes doing them separate,,,,had some nice hunting up in the sedge,,,with Bonnie flushing one,,but Dorris cought it,,,,but a few mins later she was to be sucssesful we had some great action in the sedge with Dorris catching a few more,,,

 

By the time we got back to van we had 34 rabbits,,,and a very happy Tomo ,,,

What a great start for the Pup today. .

 

It was a pleasure to watch her learning the ropes. By the time she had caught the 3rd bunny (sooty) I was so hyped up and excited I was scared to breathe.

 

And she did really well finding and catching one in the sedge grass where both dogs had already been through and caught one a few moments earlier.

 

You couldn't have planned or asked for a better start... The Ferrets were on top form today, Moxy 2 (the kit off Moxy's mate ) had a great day and killed a few below.

We had 3 Black bunnies from 1 warren.

 

little video clip..sorry its only a phone video...not a REW special.... damn shame he wasn't there today..some cracking catches were had as we never used a net all day.
