Giro 2,648
wheres the deer park bit came from?? The orginal post dont say it was park deer... If it was or was not park deer it makes no differance other than a pure waste of meat.. The colour makes no differance what so ever... It was a sin to kill it for its head. higgins 75
i am in no way attached to any sides on this one, just wondered if a certain colour of a species being hunted would actually influence hunters to 'go after' something which had colouration which was not the norm, Higgins. snoopdog 1,256
your right higgins colour does influence hunters black rabbits ginger rabbits albinos .....i dont care what anybody says if there was a field full off rabbit and there was a black one or a different colour off any animal ...9 times out of 10 they would slip or shoot the different coloured one ....dont it myself a few times ....rabbits off course ... ..but like folk say to leave the hole carrcass there is disrespectful....and not the way to go .... higgins 75
Snoops i know that even if i were influenced in catching quarry of different colouration, maybe it would add to my pride(thinking of the dog's abilities here),i know one thing is certain i would not waste one piece of flesh from that animal,i would take it home and divide it amongst my hunting companions and the rest would feed the local people etc,no way would i hunt for just a head, the guy that did this is a waste of space for he is not a true hunter IMO, Higgins. Guest baldie
Most deer in this land are killed for their heads, thats a sad but true fact. Killing a white stag would be classed as extremely unlucky in olden times. What a sinful waste of meat.
snoopdog 1,256
at the end off the day we are all trophy hunters ......royal stags ..big foxes 20lb plus ....different coulors ect ect ....its what you do with them or the reason you got shot or caught this animal thats the main factor ....... steve109 43
talking of albino hares, back in the late 80s there used to be one around colsterworth lincs area, and the brown hare would stay close to this albino like they was protecting it [very strange to see], and every time you slip your dog it would lay flat to the ground and not move, all the brown hares would run around this thing waiting for the dogs to get near then off they went, then when the dogs had past this albino it would jump up and run the other way, i kid you not, lots of people tried to catch this thing but it outwitted the dogs everytime.. until one december night [its still in a glass case today]... Guest Brownbear
It was dreadful to waste the meat, but then again I've shot black and white wild rabbits as part of a great cull of the little furry beggars, and after tasting one or two to see if they were any different, they just get given away now or go in with the meat waste. That's a terrible waste too but half the time I literally cannot give rabbits away, and they still need controlling.
