Introducing flak88

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Just joined this Forum and now introducing myself to the bunch: Dutch male, married and 2 children, all of us are fond of hunting, fishing end of course eating the lute. We live in the northeast of The netherlands in rural area stuffed with small game; hare, pheasant, rabbit and the like as well as a load of foxes entering our country (and backyard) from germany. ncidential roe and deer.

I do a lot of general dogwork, in fact I train multi-purpose hunting dogs, usually continental pointing dogs in retrieving and pointing work. We own a german Wirehaired Pointer as well as a senior jack russell terrier, now very retired. I hope to add a German Huntingterrier to that since I want to add the terrierwork on foxes to my list.

My children and myself also own a couple of ferrets that get a chance to bolt rabbits so now and then, rabbit population in Holland is dramatic due to the VHS desease as well as Myxomatosis.

Lurching seems a very interesting dogsports to me but most unfortunate this is highly illegal in Holland so no chance. As it comes to hunting in Holland there are very strict regulations and they leavo not much room to hunt, also generally speaking hunting is not-done in Holland so we are more often than not restricted to pest /vermint control. Fortunately, these populations are rising to exorbitant numbers so maybe there is still some hope.

Hope to have a good time here and certainly a learningful one.

Hello flak88,welcome to the forum. I've only just joined myself, there seems to be a lot of decent people on here, and with a similar outlook.

We have a friend with flatcoated retrievers who lives in Voorburg,so know some of the different ways in Holland regarding shooting/hunting etc.

Thanks for the welcome. So geoff did you visit Holland for hunting purposes already? The Voorburg area is not very good huting, much too crowded. I used to live only some 20 KM from there but moved to the more rural part of Holland for obvious reasons.

And I couldn't agree more, I think there's a lot of decent people here on the forum and a lot of interesting topics, I have not even finished reading half of it yet!
