slipper 116
Think they are just trying it on, my hmr just had cheap air rifle mounts and held zero fine until I had a run of inconsistent ammo which put me off and I sold it, but 15 quid air rifle mounts I used and they were fine mate Quote Link to post
Burnsy 1
Thanks pal just out of intrest what scope are you using? Quote Link to post
sussex 5,777
Apel mounts are my choice .. not cheap but quality never is ..I use & at times abuse my rifles ,on & of quads they get knocked about a fair bit but never had any problems .. Quote Link to post
andyf 144
APEL mounts on a CZ rimfire, you are RAVING MAD of course! (Lock him up someone). Sports-Match have a varied and comprehensive range suited to CZ rifles. I use the 'set back' type, this gives a decent range to get the eye relief right, on both 25mm and 30mm OD rings. All for about £30.00 on-line. (APEL mounts on a rimfire YEH RIGHT). AF Quote Link to post
zx10mike 137
50 to 60 aint top quality mounts.that said it never hurts to buy quality mounts but i personally have normally run cheap mounts since on a hmr i'm not dialing in and out trying to lr shoot.the problem sometimes is they might zero great at 100 but if your going to push the little round out to 150+ then you may get cross over at different ranges.for the sake of a tenner for second hand mounts i would chance it and just punch a bit of paper to check. oxo 450
Air rifle mounts are fine for rimmies, far less recoil than a springer. 15 quid will see you right Quote Link to post
Burnsy 1
What mag do u lads shoot at 100yds ??? Quote Link to post
andyf 144
x6 Max, (if you fancy your chances try x25 and try to hold it still NOT off of a bipod and get the eye relief right with a £150.00 airgun scope). NO CHANCE, NO CHANCE AT ALL. Get a decent scope, i.e. it must cost +£500 then you'll see. AF Quote Link to post

Yokel Matt 918
Apel mounts are my choice .. not cheap but quality never is ..I use & at times abuse my rifles ,on & of quads they get knocked about a fair bit but never had any problems .. My 6.5 came Apel mounts but I needed to replace most of the ring screws as the previous owner used the wrong sized tool on them.... £8 EACH... £64 just for the for screws! Whilst there are far more economical options available mounts are still a very underestimated part of the set up - no point spending a wad on the scope if the mounts are crap. 1 Quote Link to post

I see your point and accept your comments entirely, but its a 455 rimfire the OP is talking about, and £64 just for the screws!? Its your choice to spend what you like! The VAST majority of people don't spend anything like that on complete mounts for their rimfires, and they all seem to hit things on a regular basis out in the field! I have Sportsmatch 30mm mounts on one of my Tikkas, £33, (25mm Sportsmatch Tikka mounts are around £24) they perform just as well as the daft £100 Optilocks I have on my other Tikka! nasher1 258
I have £10 js Ramsbottom mounts on my 455 Hmr. I can hit the map pins from the corners of my targets at 50 yards and still very tight groups at 100 yards. I don't think I could improve on this by spending significantly more on mounts atb Roy Quote Link to post
