krawnden 1,036
Thats a shame they knowly let guns on the land days before your event... A game estates a business but to do that your club is disgusting.. Any more pictures ?? Would love to see them .. Giro, I do have lots more deerhound pics but the trouble is it would take me hours (if not days!) to find them. I've got a massive desk drawer absolutely stuffed with packets of old prints and negatives, but they're not in any order or 'system' so the only way to find them is to literally take out each packet and go through them. There are hundreds and hundreds of packets! One day when I've got nothing better to do I'll sort through them but it ain't gonna happen any time soon I'm afraid! But here are some of the ones I sent the fella who asked for pics of my own deerhounds - Me with my first bitch on a bitterly cold foggy day in East Anglia The same bitch being led in the run up My second bitch about to go into slips The same bitch is nearest the camera in this pic of the line at a Madresfield (Worcestershire) meeting 8 Quote Link to post
krawnden 1,036
Looks like some memorable sport. Do you have any pics of your days out with the East of England whippet club? Have seen some cracking Ted Walsh pics from the WCC but none from the other clubs. Sad to say I don't think I have any; I never got a chance to take pics as I was always asked to pick up whenever I went out with them. They were a club made up predominantly of oldish women, most of whom had several whippets with them at each meeting, so they were completely hopeless at dealing with any hares caught. I was a non-running member and in my twenties, so it was comparatively easy for me (mind you, I remember cursing my luck on plenty of occasions as I tried to run a few hundred yards across sticky arable to dispatch a screaming hare ) Quote Link to post
krawnden 1,036
Just found this as well. This is the second bitch in the photos above (who was quite young at that Madresfield meeting) aged around 9 or 10, together with my young poodle/greyhound lurcher 4 Quote Link to post

That's the only deerhound book I know of that he wrote. And yes, it's a good read. From memory I think he's got a chapter in there about running deerhounds at kangaroo in Oz. His daughter lives there so he used to visit regularly. 2 Quote Link to post
