jukel123 8,575
The answer to the difference in height among your litter siblings jcm is in the whippet ancestry. Once you have whippet in the bloodline a proportion of smallish pups is inevitable. 1 Quote Link to post
jcm 2,327
Lurcher to lurcher nothing set in stone, my old bitch was the smallest in her litter @ 23.5tts and both parents were 24tts second smallest 24tts and the tallest 28tts[/quote ] But an 8.5 inch difference in height is a massive difference I think So what's in their make up? Further up the post ? Quote Link to post

desertbred 5,490
only two in the mix from tallish dogs but if the saluki was a bitch around 24/25 tts is normal a greyhound dam or sire around 25 to 28 the rest bull, whippet etc not renowned for height chance is increased of big variations depending on breeds and which particular line is dog or bitch in its ancestors 1 Quote Link to post
Chid 6,597
I know of a litter where a dog made 26/27 and the bitch i had was 21 and there was no whippet in the breeding Quote Link to post
strongbow1 257
What sort of size did you expect or want? Alot of whippet in breeding. Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
From what I've seen, so many people put a 20" dog over a 22" bitch and automatically assume pups will be 21". But it doesn't work like that in reality. That 20" dog could be the biggest in his litter, with some of his siblings being 17". The 22" Bitch could be the runt with her big brothers being 25". So genetically you have a range of 17" to 25" straight away. Quote Link to post
jcm 2,327
Tbh I never thought of that, it will be good to see what the litter us like at year old Quote Link to post
samba 534
out of that mix you could end up with a pup that takes after the whippet and bull bit in them a short stocky pup anything goes when you mix a few together Quote Link to post
Chid 6,597
Chid probably the irish terrier then no irish terrier in the breeding Also know a 22" whippet/grey x 21" whippet/grey produce a 27" pup .. 1 Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Tbh I never thought of that, it will be good to see what the litter us like at year old My pups litter didn't vary much in height. All around 24-25. However physically they are worlds apart. One looks more like a collie, one was short in the back and stocky like a bull, one was like a whippet, my pup is a funny looking ugly f****r. Lol. Back like a whippet and head like a deerhound with collie ears. Lol. Quote Link to post
