I used to get asked what the f@@k do you think your doing on here ? You haven't got permission. My reply was "God gave me permission" , which usually got the reply "it's my land" to which I'd say "it's Gods, not yours, it was here before you and it'll be here after your gone, so f@@k off " which in turn I'd get the reply " ask next time you cheaky tw@t", there on in it was my permission for life lol.

Oh and not to forget the classic, when they hit you with the "I pay the mortgage, it's my land" tell them " the mortgage gives you the right to put the cattle in the field, it's still Gods country it'll be here when you're gone" they don't like that one lol

When I started in the 60's the idea of permission didn't occur to me. I just wondered around the local fields and woods in my shorts and wellies with a mongrel terrier carrying a ferret in a sack with a couple of nets or an old pop airgun. All but the keeper on the estate took little notice, some knew my family and that gave access the rest took scant note of a little lad catching the odd rabbit. By the time I got my first lurcher most would speak or at least nod as I mooched about. Within a few years the old keeper retired and a part timer took over so we rarely crossed paths. As I spread out into the old quarries there was no one to give permission and I learnt to be careful on the bordering farm land. I had moved to a different county and was in my twenties before the thought of permission even occurred to me.

i remember when i first started out in 81 we use to go were bunnies could be found with a collection of terriers lurchers some owned or borrowed or any mongrel that was walking the streets permission never crossed are mind just the thrill of the chase or maybe catching and having to chuck little stones up at your mates windows because he over slept god knows how many farms we crossed working the railways or the river banks even the quarries got are attention if we got caught out we played ignorant just use to get told dont come on again we agreed but knowing we would be back next week and if we were luckly enough to catch even one we would walk the long way home through the streets with the red rings round are calfs were are cheap plastic wellies had been rubbing all day dogs in tow and the ferrets in are pockets in the old cloth pound bags carrying are hard worked for catch showing it of to all and sundry then folk use to nod and pass comment now everything has to be hidden out of view or they would be up in arms or phoning the arsecpa times have changed for the worst shame my lad or kids like him will never get to experience that what we had
