Czechoslovakian Wolfdog?

Recommended Posts

So, we breed these hundreds of types of hunting dogs we have today, only to revert back to the wolf lol something a bit backwards in that? I think looking at that type of dog I see the wolf, a true wild hunter, and think, 'that will hunt like stink', but to be honest, if I looked at the job needed from the dog, there would be a purpose made mutt out there for me, that wont eat me lol only kidding im sure their lovely, but seriously, there would be a breed of dog that will be made for the job in hand, whatever that be.

They say it was developed as a guard/man catcher by a 'doctor evil' type bloke working for the government, but they dont seem to be taking over from the german shepherd which they were supposed to improve upon... just a point. I mean, if they didnt even achieve what they were created for, the experiment failed way back. Its an utterly useless, wolf-looking, pet-bred, hard to train alsation, that is not even a patch on a normal alsation by all accounts. Bonny though. :D

There is a group of wolves in South Africa which were imported for use in a government cross breeding program. The theory was to create a better kind of attack dog for hunting Angolan guerrillas during the bush wars of the 1980s.

Funnily enough the program was a failure. The hybrids were untrainable.

I suppose it does not have much of a place, but they have apparently been used more sucsessfully when crossed back to the working german shepherd of russian and cz lines.

However, looking at the prices, their not cheap to import, as their seems to be none here. Talking to my russian freind, he tells me they try and keep them away from over breeding and the show world.

It would be interesting to hear from someone who has knowlage and experince of the breed, dont think i will get it on here though. lol

Edit to say, for those who think its a wolf hybrid, well its not, as i know myself, their a disaster.

I also think the pure wolf should stay that way, in my opnion, their a magnifesent animal.

hi,

this is a picture from the 1950's of my father-in-laws dog "Mac" he was in moult. he was a Canadian Timberwolf x Alsatian, he was a docile dog and very obedient, he was just the family pet, he was raised with a toddler around and showed no aggression, he saved it when it was a young pup from being destroyed and it grew up to be a beautiful dog.

I read somewhere they tie a Alsatian bitch in heat in the woods and she either gets eaten or f****d whether that's true I don't know I would have thought most would have got eaten

That sounds like something fron the game of thrones. lol

But i know what you mean. Id say she would get attacked and killed by a resedant pack.

hi,

sorry phil and joe, I sent my father-in-law an email for some more info on his dog Mac, but unfortunately he couldn't remember to much as he is now 93 years old and when he had Mac he was in his late 20's, all the info that I posted with the pic was from my wife's memory of her conversation with her dad. he has had quite a few dogs over the years but really only remembers the later ones more, but he did say that he was a big dog though,

I would have liked to find out some more specific info for my self as well but if he couldn't remember, that fine with me,

thank tl
