Air Pistol Dispatch

Anyone use an air pistol for fun and for ratting/squirrels dispatch?

 

What do you use?

 

Looking at the Crossman 2240, got one? any thoughts

I had a go with one, be great for dispatching vermin. Single shot is a pain for plinking in the back garden though.

for despatching you dont need too much power, a full power pistol will go straight through the head at close range and wont pass on the energy like a lower powered pistol will,

I do have a couple and they all do the trick e.g BSA 240 magnum, Sheridan E17 (co2) and Webley Tempest, these are all in .177 cal. If I had to buy a new one, I would opt for a .22 caliber, a bit more effective on short range, no risk of over penetration.

 

Crosman 22xx series are cheap and cheerful, can't go miss on that one. The rat trappers of the county I'm living if, use them to dispatch the trapped coypu and muskrats. So Governmental approved !

I've got a Falcon FN6 with a crossman laser sight fitted. It's a very handy thing for rats up to 15 yards, and I've shot plenty with it.

 

I rarely use an air pistol for dispatch, but on the odd occasion when I have it's been very effective.

if i need to use a pistol for despatching a rat or squirrel , i use my hw 45 in 177 .

I have a 2240 , great for the rats , especially when they try to bite the barrel.

Hw 45 .22 for me. Very powerful and perfect for dispatching in cages. Imo way better than a co2.
