bobcullen79 1,495
Ruggers; once you've bought the materials how many nets before it's good value (don't know if that makes sense)Two spools of twine, a 100 rings and a spool of drawcord will set you back around £40 if I remember. You should get at least 25 nets out of that, and that £40 is much less than you would pay for 25 decent 4ft nets. So to me, thats good value if your making, not selling, but then theres your time to factor. And that answers my question! Its actually better value, that was just a rough outline. If you made 25 nets, you would still have enough rings left for another 25 nets and most probably enough drawcord. So your next 25 nets would only cost around £18 for two spools of twine.. 1 Quote Link to post

bobcullen79 1,495
I use Netriggers, top nets, and top man to deal with. Yup. Cant argue with any of that. I bought a 100 quids worth of him years ago. I was so impressed with them, it inspired me to have a go and I`ve not looked back. Saying that, Ive not made any for a while, should buy a bit more gear in. 1 Quote Link to post

bobcullen79 1,495
Everyones version of a gate net differs. Then theres what you want to catch in it.. Best person to answer this would be Netrigger or Tiecel. From My understanding, is it not just a giant poke net with 5" meshes, usually square for catching hares? Quote Link to post

pie-eater 377
Nick you used the bisley 4z netrs for 18 years? You must have the patients of a saint. I used mine for a couple of sessions before I started making my own nets. Quote Link to post
Nick3439 83
It's all I thought there was! I now have hundreds just sitting there doing nothing as I hate them so much!!! It's weird I never really thought to connect Google to my past times as they didn't seem to go together! Crazy. I've been doing so many things 'the long' or 'hard way' for so long; reading through here has produced loads of 'life hacks' Quote Link to post
The one 8,460
Anyone know how to make a gate net had a look on youtube but most videos are about purse nets cheers If your wanting it for rabbits its just a big purse net , where a poke net might be 5 , 6 foot long and could have a peg at each end Your gate net will be 18 ,20 foot long depending on the gate you want to use it in , you dont even have to put draw cord on it if you want relaying on the rabbit balling itself in it as it hits it and with no draw cord it should be quicker to reset . If your wanting it for hares move up to a three inch mesh board 1 Quote Link to post

The one 8,460
It's totaly up to you mate you make it to suit the gates on your permission , if the gates have a high ground clearance you can make it twenty , twenty five meshes wide you can't add more meshes when your out but you can tuck some more over the bottom rung of the gate, if there no ground clearance just putting a purse net on the two tractor wheel ruts might be all you need Quote Link to post
