DIGGIT 6
HI ALL just to let you all no that shot shells are going up in price for 2nd time in the last 2 months , at a price of 14%. I think the big Companys are starting to take the piss out of us , they say its the lead going up in price and i must addmit it has gone up a bit but not the prices there saying it is, im welder by trade so i no the steel prices very well as im bying stell most weeks. it works out that aprox 18,300 1oz shot shells to the tone, so if your paying £135.00 a 1000 for a mid rage shell, thats £2463.75 a tone. the last time i looked copper was around that price not lead. I shoot DTL in AA class, i can shoot 1300 to 1500 sells a month, i was looking to get in the england team for 2008 and shoot the World DTL Championships in Ireland but the way things are going with the shell prices i don't think ill be there and more to the point there may be a DT10 TRAP GUN for sale, i hope it don't come to this. let me no what you think, and what would you pay for shells all the best lee Quote Link to post
Guest Macnas
The increased costs in transport is screwing everything, not to mind the cost of lead. Diggit, If you're AA, and going for serious competition, maybe some sponsership would help. Surely someone would stand you the cost of a few cases now and then if you gave them a bit of advertising? Just a thought. Quote Link to post
DIGGIT 6
Hi Macnas i have sponsership with a shooting ground and that gets my clays for free but the cost is not in the clays it's in the shells, i could move to a cheep shell but shooting at serious competition i don't think they would be good for the job, and more to the point if you shoot as much as i shoot you no all needs to be right ie the gun the shells and most of all your head, if not right up there you will never find 100 x 300 that we all look for. And as for some 1 standing me the cost of a few cases i think would have more luck in getting in the top 10 in World DTL Championships in Ireland 2008 . 1 thing i will betting when im there is thanks for the reply mate all the best lee Edited October 26, 2007 by DIGGIT Quote Link to post
Guest Macnas
Diggit I understand what you mean. You need everything to be right to compete at your best. The odd thing is, you can get cartridges like eley vip cheaper here than in the UK, don't know how that works! Quote Link to post

clay man 0
hi DIGGIT we pay 220 to 240 euro for eley 7.5 grams and the price is going up because of the chinees they ar buying all the lead Quote Link to post
Geoff.C 0
According to the Eley-Hawk marketing manager, lead which was $429 per ton in 2002,is now $3710 per ton, nearly a ten-fold increase. He says, cartridges will never be this cheap again, they are going to continue to rise gradually. The Chinese are using so much lead for car batteries and roofing, that they are just exporting a lot less than they used to. Federal cartridges, say the Chinese are building a city, the size of Manhattan, every two years, and estimate they will have 100 million cars by 2010!! Perhaps we should be thinking quickly of alternatives, maybe "Hevishot",Bismuth and steel shells will come down in price if more were used?? Quote Link to post

Or perhaps they will stay at the same price and just become comparatively cheaper as the lead prices over take them!!! i hardly shoot that many cartridges to worry about it, 250 last me a year Quote Link to post

zap 4
i bought a box of 250 express number 6 32s with fibre wad sure they were 75 quid Quote Link to post
Geoff.C 0
i bought a box of 250 express number 6 32s with fibre wad sure they were 75 quid Now that sounds expensive. I recently bought 500 Express HV fibre wadded 71/2 shot 24grm load. These were £76. I use two gun shops, depending which way I'm going. I thought these were pricey at £76, so rang the other shop, for the price of the equivalent Eley's, they were £74, so not much in it. This time last year, they were about £58 I think.
