Tozer 385
I guess it comes down to giving the dog the time to learn and it is likely pastoral dogs learn the game well. Bossie 90
I guess it comes down to giving the dog the time to learn and it is likely pastoral dogs learn the game well. Are there any German shepherds still used for herding? Alsations only very few, some so called Old German Shepherds are and the German Hütehund is used a lot actually. Tough sheep working dogs those GH. BTW continental shepherds work cattle in a completely different way, not like a border collie at all. They are used as a mobile fence, not to drive sheep from one paddock/pasture to another. They are able of doing it but not like a BC. 2 Quote Link to post

Chicken_man 1,651
My Collie loves hunting, he not scared of getting fired in. Good ferreting / marking dog, smashes through cover, loves to work. Also an excellent watch dog. Bred him myself and both parents are the same. Think he would go to ground if he could fit ? 7 Quote Link to post

If memory serves me right, he may have experience with them, or I could be completely wrong. Atb Quote Link to post
max_wood 161
I've got one mate but for cattle work. My advice would be unless you have got a job for one all day every day then dont get one.they're full on, no "off switch". Need a hell of a lot of stimulation and exercise. Good luck but i would pick something more suitable Quote Link to post
