Stabs 3
Just been looking through some old pics that I'd put up on another forum ages ago and I found a template of my eldest boys pedigree showing his breeding. I can't use the real names for obvious reasons, but I hope you get the gist of the matings. Would anyone on here do breedings such as this or is that too close for most folks tastes? TimJ 0
Stabs, it obviously must have clicked if you still have the boy, but tell me have you bred him and what has he produced ? I like to breed mine close as well but I'm wondering when I am going to hit a dead end. You've got to bring in fresh blood sooner or later. Quote Link to post
Stabs 3
Didn't get a pm Tuffty Try again mate. TimJ, he's never been bred. Quote Link to post
kiwi 4
that dog G must have been a cracker stabs for it to be so bred back to him, we don't breed as close as that but i would expect some fresh blood might not be too far away, i would use an outcross to a common grandparent on one side, not a bad example on proper line breeding, breeding pigdogs is alot more simple than purebreds but the same rules apply. Guest indy
nothing wrong with that ,father to daughter then half brother to half sister. if you ever breed him your next generation will have to be the dreaded outcross or something only distantly related Quote Link to post

This is the sort of thing that was done many Years ago when travelling was difficult. Unintentionally guys were inbreeding and linebreeding without really knowing. Certain parts of the Country had pockets of good terriers, and they were typey too. As long as it is clear that you 'fix' the bad things in that line too, on top of the good things. Guest busterdog
what about brother ,sister mating, anyone gone that way? My first great terrier was a NS dog that was from a brother sister mating, i then put this dog back to his own daughter and the pup i kept from this mating was second to none and probably the finest terrier i've had the honour to work.
