GaZMaN888 68
Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone can provide any info on what the going rate for half a lamb is? It's something I was going to look in to anyway but one has come up in a silent auction near me so I was thinking of throwing a bid in. The description says the normal value is £85 but my mate says that's extortionate and should be about half that. I thought it seemed a fair price? I'll be picking up a chest freezer soon so would like to find out if this is a good way to bring the food bill down over the long term. I'm in Somerset if that makes any difference. Thanks GaZ
TOPPER 1,809
lambs £3 a kilo at the moment so a good lamb would be no more than £50 ive got one coming in the next couple of weeks and half a dexter bullock
philstory 83
Fat lambs are making 75 average at marts up here in north east at moment. So 85 for half a lamb seems expensive. Depends who or where you getting it from. Straight from farmer cheaper or from a butchers shop dearer.

Blackbriar 8,569
You could always get 1/2 an adult sheep for around 40 quid, Gaz. Give me mutton over lamb any day.

DIDO.1 22,846
I think most of a lamb is shite anyway, nowt on a chop. Better spend £85 on cheap cuts of beef, and learn how to cook em
