Clancy 1
What is the deepest you've ever had to dig for your dog? This past weekend we almost had to do a 10 footer through hard clay. That would have been loads of fun Probably would have wanted to turn the hole into a root cellar. The dog came out after we got down about 2 feet. What kind of soil where you digging in? I'm just getting started in the world of digging so I have nothing impressive to report Cheers Quote Link to post

scotty 0
A few years back I was helping a terrierman for our local hunt marked to ground, we ut the dog in let him settle and got a mark, at about 10 foot we werent far from breaking through when we heard the fox rush past the dog. Eventuly got another mark on the dog and that was about 7 foot down, the quarry was quickly dispatched and we whent for a few bevvies afterwards. The soil was all that red soil thats found on the quntock hills. So all in all we dug 17 feet to get the dog. Quote Link to post
dirtymole69 0
My first real deep dig was 12 foot on an old tip. Went through shreaded paper, glass and had to move a mattress. when we got down the dog had pushed on a couple of feet so had to tunnel slightly. Ive got a picture of that somewhere will try and get it up, u can see the step we dug into the hole to pass the spade up to. Last year had a mate whos dog went to ground in a one holer on a banking that we didnt know was there so no collar on dog. It was the first time the dog had been to ground too. Endde up sinking a few 8 foot holes and the last one was about 11 feet through all the rubble which had been pushed down the banking from the estate. When we got the dog he was cold, stiff and half dead and his fox was infront of him dead! Quote Link to post

Great White Hunter 78
A few year ago we dug 11 foot in very sandy soil this set of holes have been dug alot of time over the years with 6 foot being the deepest . To help get the soil out we lowered a bucket down with a rope . Quote Link to post
