lurcherchavvy 3
ive run hares for 5,6 minutes and ive never been to the fenns Link to post
salukixminshaw 1
the hares on the fens are good when the weak ones are thined out but so are most hares that get run. the fens are to hot now for poaching during the day but its still alright on the lamp if you hit and run we just drive over the feilds and slip the dogs out the back. that was pre ban like Link to post
Guest SJM
Whats wrong with good old fashioned walking? park up somewhere and walk a bit with your dog, or get dropped off and walk it. Driving about over the fields lamping on one of the best running grounds in the UK? One person walking their dog across a field doesnt do much damage to crop or attract much attention and if you get stopped when your by yourself as long as you dont have long ears about your person, what can they really do to you? Dont know the tresspass laws in England but up here they can do sweet FA unless they catch you with a freshly killed hare in your posession. Is it just me or are lurcher folk getting lazier these days? When I first started out I would get dropped off miles from home and walk back, still do sometimes, whats wrong with some of you young uns? do you want it all handed to you on a plate? I think if you have to work hard for your runs you appreciate them all the more Link to post
Guest joe ox
I do a lot from the road side and plenty walking, the weather dictates how I do it sometimes or I change around to stimulate the mind and stop Link to post

baz 463
as a rule the bitch in question is dynamite, but this season with ground being hard she isnt used to running top notch hares(fens)...i would have room in my kennel for this dog, not a problem, just been unlucky today.....giro, imho a good hare dog should be able to kill a hare anywhere, in big fens or small fields, we had a great day on them , my young dog ran 3 off the 1 slip, stopped 1st, piped 2nd then stopped 3rd, i was more than chuffed, his sister ran 3 killed 2, took the arse out of the one she missed Link to post
Guest joe ox
Those fen hares have everyman and his saluki x chasing after them! no wonder there fit they get exercised daily. Link to post
