To speed dry them, stick them in microwave for 15 seconds, then allow to cool. Then keep repeating the process until dry. Don't go more than 15 seconds at a time as the microwave blows up :-/ lol and like atom lab has said, get on the slingshot forum, loads of different designs on there to print out mate

Cut this off an hawthorn today took bark off and give it a little sand will cut it to size and try finish it off tomoz

Yeah i really like hawthorne me self for catty forks an walking sticks even like to cut most woods rather larger all the way around an then you can sorta contour the grip etc to fit your hand an shooting style exactly ,seen a few catty's made of willow from the UK an the game they took with them i'd definately favor a thicker fork there though ,have some juniper forks i cut in late winter last year gonna try out it's a very tough wood also ,an have some service berry forks that are real strong as well ,we have a mountain maple here that dry's hard as a rock also an i'm working on a few from that one as well ,yew is a good one that is available a bit north of me ,an i know that it's available in the UK as well makes a stout an most beautiful catty imo.

Yeah i like the yew it leaves a really nice grain pattern etc when finished. I've watched that gamekeeper catapults make a couple out of yew they look ace i like to see a nice piece of wood. Like you said he use over sized forks too. This fork is for my lad he's only four i tied an elastic band to it and hes been knocking his figures off the table suppose its a starting point isn't it .
