Is there any frog hunting done in Great Britain. If so, do you catch them by net, gig, or hand?

There is always something better to eat. But, anyone who has had a platter of deep friend frog legs will probably tell you there are many, many things worse.

Frogs here are small nowhere near size of the bullfrog,I'm thinking your on about.

The bullfrogs here can get up to 3 pounds and two feet long. The ones I catch are generally much, much smaller. I was just curious if it is done over there since the discussion of catching things like eels and crawfish are similar to what is done over here.

their good eating i can remember as kids we caught a LOAD of them at a old tipand cut their legs off and cooked them on a camp fire they were lovely like

Used to spend hours catching them! Also used to catch newts with a length of cotton tied to a stick and a worm TIED to the cotton, the newts have teeth like pike (backward faceing) so they hook themselves. I started catching great crested newts down the local bog that we're supposed to be building on, but because of me and my little brother it's now a nature reserve that was 20yrs ago and it's still a nature reserve and something I'm quite proud of

There are all sorts of newts and salamanders here. I've never seen the ones with teeth. But we have others that are called mud puppies. They are great bait for catfish. We also use small frogs for catfish or bass bait. When I catch bullfrogs to eat, i use the heads to bait juglines to catch snapping turtles.

 

Any fishing for turtles over there?

Sounds like Carp fishing is popular there. We have had Carp and Buffalo fish here for quite a while. More recently Asian Carp have been introduced and have become a problem in some areas.

You can't really see the teeth, they are more like throat teeth if you no what I mean? Lol
