Keeping Dogs Warm

Recommended Posts

What does everyone use in the kennels to keep dogs warm through the night? Are heat lamps the best thing or are there other things on the market. My dogs are sheltered from wind and rain in just wanting something to keep the chill off them that wont break the bank.

I don't think what you use is the important bit so much, whether its straw, shredded paper or blankets. but as long as its DRY, DRAUGHT FREE and WARM, it will take no harm as far as im concerned a WA

Can't beat a turf fire and a hot whiskey lads keeps me warm lol

Lots of opinions on this,,,and it's a subject that comes up regular,,,

I prefer heat lamp,,,cos I like to see my dogs stretched out rather than curled up,,,I leave mine on constant from around November till march,,,

I have learned though ,,like most things in life,,,buy the expensive professional heat lamp,,,and ceramic bulb,,,

Here's a pic with old cheap set up ,,and red bulb

Far be it for me to criticize anyone who makes an effort to keep their dogs warm, but personally I prefer a bed with four sides high enough for the dogs to get below, so out of any draughts that may cross the room or shed where they are. I like Tomo's set up, apart from the missing side at the front, dare I say :icon_redface: :sorry:
