Dog Mill Wheel

Recommended Posts

Knew an old lad who used something similar to condition his bulls, he said it was better than the your usual slatmill but mills have never interested me, much rather be out pounding pavement building that bond while conditioning.

If something's not broke why fix it right? More than enough dogs been conditioned on a slatmill. Only thing I can see that wheel doing is having your neighbours be abit nosey as to what your upto. Average joe thinks every dog should be fat god knows what they'd think if your running one on a giant wheel lol.

mates got one made it from a reebok treadmill took the handles off and boxed it in with ply wood with a door at one end good when the ground is frozen like concrete in the winter and you cant run the dogs you can keep them ticking over on them it has variable speed and looks spot on

Mills, wheels and turntables are all used for building wind which is something that's near impossible to do on foot or even beside a bike.

I'm lucky enough to have land that's safe to free run my dogs on to build wind, obviously mills have their place for the more urban dogman but I'll always prefer the more natural methods.

Don't know what you mean Jigsaw.

To use a treadmill correctly you must walk the dog first 'til it empty's out, otherwise you'll boil the dogs kidneys.

Then after the mill work you must walk the dog to cool it down.

How's that being lazy ?

As someone once said about such contraptions,

In the right hands they can be the best aid for a dog, in the wrong hands they can be the worst.

when I kept the bull breeds i had 2 mills, and they really made a difference to their fitness,Yes i knew that neil,i used to walk my lot for an hour and then stick em up on the mill for a time.if utilized properly and carefully they are a great help to the dogs all round fitness.

what i mean is every time this topic comes up,mills etc,the same remarks are made ,''just walk the dog'' thats what I meant
