The fenns

I have heard about the fenns and my dad used to go there around the same age i am now and had some great days there out with the boys and the lurchers. But what i want to know is if its worth going as a lot of people go on about it you would of thought the fuzz would be about and also if theres certain spots that are good and spots that arent worth going to. my dogs in his prime at 3 years old and is proper game this season and i am keen to go i was just wondering what everyone else thought

its heaven on earth, as you enter the county you must .....there is plenty of hassle down there, but you have to take the rough with the smooth....if you want to test a dog daytime its the place to go

whats the fields like down there are they flat and have they got a load of flint about

it depends where abouts you go..most places are massive, there are small fields, and there are stoney parts in places, the majority is just nice big seeds, great for gettin your dogs lungs opened

Not wishing to put a damper on your understandable enthusiasm,but there are a lot of plod poaching operations on at the moment ,no expense spared stuff,including helicopter surveillance ,what you do is not my business,just making you aware of the climate at the moment. whatever you decide ,may I suggest you keep it to your self,not in any way being critical or negative towards you,,just ,hopefully helpful .Inan.

Inan is spot on there is a lot of resources focused at stopping coursing in fens and around them. Largely because before the ban IDIOTS got bored of walking and following dog, so started driving round fields in 4x4s. Now obviously your farmer may turn a blind eye to someone walking with a dog but when folks are ruining his hard work preparing a seed bed. In fact when folks are costing him lots of money in lost crop, it is UNDERSTANDABLE that the heat should come on.

 

So a few fecking idiots have ruined it FOR US ALL.

 

All the same not telling you what to do but, if you head out into big sky country, know that there are a lot of eyes watching the land. It used to be the best of times and now far from it.

hi fella i have to agree with others,i livein the fens and things are great out here ,the game is great and it is a great test for your dog,massive flat open land and long ears the size of munties. but beware the old bill are hot they will kn ow the land better then u and come on quods ,foot,4x4,heli think about it for your dog cause a game keeper wont think twice about shooting your dog if he catches u at it

hi all i live in the fens too the police are even posting letters through our doors now.asking us to keep a look out for any hare coursing, and to take vechile numbers down and the amount of people and a description of the people and there is a special task force now dealing with hare coursing in the fens, so be on the LOOK OUT BIG BROTHER WILL BE WATCHING YOU LOL .

I cant believe, all this money, has gone into something so silly, poaching!!!!!

Their are crimes out their, that would shock most, but nowt gets done about it.

Pick on ther easy targets, exagerated tall stories of gangs ect ect going about smashing gates and what not.

I really do think, the police ect are all antis, gone are the days of the underestanding cop, if their was such a thing.

Now, you might say, im irish ect and what do i care, well, im actually not, i have been living here, for 18 years, i lived in the Uk before i came here and it was getting bad then, god knows what its like now.

It has been in the news up here in Edinburgh and the Lothians that bogus callers are posing as CID officers to gain access to old peoples homes and robbing them (which is pathetic) yet should they be caught they will get a lesser punnishment than if they were caught with 3 hares. I quite agree Frank ,the crime is the waste of resources that would be better used preventing burglaries and mugging,imo.There have been some high profile prosecutions brought recently ,against the likes of Clarissa Dickson Wright,Sir Mark Prescott,and Peter Easterby toname but three,it would seem the antis are out to make a point after their failure to make us stop,our "legal "activities. I just wanted to make the laddo aware of how things are,prominent headlines about coursing arrests arent going to help us ,especially as the appeal is going before the E C now,Im not trying to preach to anyone ,just saying ,use your head,,.Inan.
