connecting lamp

Recommended Posts

This is for all the lamping crowd. Had my lot with Lightforce battery back, constantly letting me down fuses blowing, wiring getting pulled out. So I bought a battery that is used to power golf buggies progolf sd22 12v with a handle recommended by locla lads. Can someone give me the idiot guide to connecting my lamp lightforce striker to it? Is it as simple as connecting positive and negative and what is the best way to keep these connections fixed? Thanks lads

i had lots of trouble with conectors pulling out of battery's so i bought a motor bike battery and just conected it straight to the lamp with the crimp conertors but not the spade ones the circle oones so they bolt on! then taped it on so if you do rench the cable you pull on the tape and not the conector! and i cut the end of of my charger and replaced them with crocidile clips! it doesnt matter awhoch way the + and - goes on the lamp but make sure you get it right whan charging or i wont go your charge or bat any good! hope this helps

well put fella.....i used to have mine on a 17 amp battery :toast: ....never out of power, and had holes in the posts instead of spades....wired them up tight....bit of gaffa tape for good measure ;) the best connector i had was to cut the coil lead....and fit a lawnmower type two pin plug connection on.....this way if the dogs caught the lamp lead as they bundled out the widow or door....it was a fast and sure connection to plug back in....the worst thing in the world is a dog pulling the lamp out of the door to smash the lamp or hurt itsen if still moving....

throe them quick blow fuses out the window....proper shite.....never blown a bulb on a lightforce yet....once had one accidently turned on though behind the seat....wasnt till we could smell burnin plastic we noticed ....the lamp lived on though...sort off lol...guess i`d have been greatful for a fuse then ...or a weaker battery lmao

Got told off on another site, probably rightly so in all honesty lol, for doing this but I don't use fuses anymore. I have two eye connectors on my lamp and I bolt these right to the battery. If I had to do it from scratch again I would use the electric lawnmower/strimmer type connectors, I couldn't get them quick enough at the time.

If you get rid of the ciggie connectors, and those shite fuses and their even worse housings you won't have any problem with the lamp, I haven't and I have my lamp on constantly when I'm out using an 18 amp battery.
