Gaj1612 99
ok so i think im going to give the led lamp a try and if its no good ill send it back and get a striker. only thing i cant decide on now after having a chat with my mate id wether to get the one that comes with a 4ah lithium battery that will apprently last 4 hours and is £110 or the one i have posted the link to above with the internal battery in the handle that lasts 2.5 hours but is only £70 Quote Link to post
Parabuteos lad 878
You can always have power left at the end if the night but nothing worse than cutting a good night sort due to power loss Quote Link to post
Gaj1612 99
That's fair enough but I think I was drawn to this particular lamp because there would be no wires and things but then I suppose I wouldn't even notice a 4ah battery in my pocket Quote Link to post
krawnden 1,036
i have a cluson plr400 and use it more than my lazerlite. easy to pocket, weighs nowt and no wires. 400m tight beam. perfect for rabbits Robs, I know they claim it's a 400m beam but what is it really? I ask as they claim the Light Fantastic, which I had, has a 500m beam. But that's crap. Maybe someone standing 500m away looking at the guy holding the lamp would just about be able to make out a pinprick of light, but that doesn't make it a 500m beam IMO. I found that anything much past - 100 yards and I could barely make out what was going on. What would you say is the furthest distance you could easily follow a running rabbit with your plr400? imprintx 3
Wayfarer streamlight do an led spotlight, you can get a rechargeable one, or one that takes 4 c cell battery's an lasts 8 hours, I got a standard one to check it out, the beam is tight and bright an deffo good 300yrd range, the rechargeable one is more powerful I think, standard one was $54, lots of reviews online on them mate Quote Link to post
imprintx 3
It's a streamlight waypoint mate, not wayfarer Quote Link to post
Gaj1612 99
That actually looks quite decent Quote Link to post
whitefeet4190 1,725
Looks like I'll be saving for a while hahaAny idea how long the lithium batteries last? Thinking either 14 or 22 amp I'd would just go for the 8 amp it's plenty for a nights lamping 1 Quote Link to post

What would you say is the furthest distance you could easily follow a running rabbit with your plr400? i reckon i've followed rabbits out to a couple of hundred yards easily before the dog had em. we have a field at the back of the house and the distance to the trees at the other side of the field is a measured 120 yards ( measured for beach casting ) . lights up the trees proper manner. as the season goes on and the rabbits get trickier the lazerlite may come out but the plr400 is good enough for now. the beam is tight though and you have to be smart to keep it on the rabbit. just been out on the back garden and i reckon its a 15-20ft diameter spot at 120 yards.
