Hello my name's Patrick and I have just joined after looking through some of the other posts and reading some great advice. A little about myself, I am a 35 year old plumber who has recently caught the bug for shooting again. I used to shoot a .22 air rifle on my uncles farm and loved every moment, but as I've got older I couldn't find the time and it became less important to shoot, however my son has reached an age where he is responsible enough to handle an air riffle. As it's something I have very fond memory of with my uncle I thought id take him out for a bit of fun and show him what his old dads got! But he made me look like a amateur. He's a natural, anyway we did have a bit of land to shoot on and spent some amazing evenings there waiting for the rabbits at dusk and wondering the woods for pigeons, however we can no longer shoot there due to there family matters and my uncle is not with us any more or his farm, and as I've said I've, got the bug so I don't want to give up. As I've spent good money on good equipment. I'm keen to learn as much about the sport as I possible can, small bore, large bore, lamping, stalking and more, so here I am and thank you for these posts with great advice. I am off today to knock on a few doors as you've suggested and try to secure a bit of land for hopefully the two of us together to carry on shooting. thanks lads great to be here, any other advice or tips would be very welcome, as I'm a newbie again. many thanks Patrick. ps enjoyed some the banter on here too.

Thanks jjm and vanman1. Yeah next generation. He realy loves it and can't get enough. when we went to by our gun form our gun shop the lady there had him shoot a few pellets to get him used to it, after she see him shoot she was asking him to join and shoot for the club! In the end I just let him shoot and I was lamping unless it was target practice but we love all aspects of it. We even went and bought a load of camo clothing the other day. Well we had a bit of luck today. on the off chance I thought I'd pop in and see another uncle I haven't seen for about 25 years but was really close when I was a kid who has a small holding. He's going to let us shoot there once a week and said he was over run with rabbit this summer but mixi has got a lot of them now. Still, even we only get a few rabbit it's still a place to practice, practice, practice till next summer. Can anyone advise on the best tactic for winter rabbit shooting?
