teddog 59
not sure about his but a geniune deerhound x greyhound is a fantastic, honest and loyal worker.pre ban they were the best of the best at the bigger stuff and on the smaller quarry they certainly put in a good job too. And then you bumped into the Bull cross. the lad said he used to run bull x's and now wants a deerhound x.thats progress. Quote Link to post

bobza 910
The only thing that worries me with this breed is that these days theres not enough lads running this sort of cross and the dogs that mainly get used have never made the grade.there is more of a worrie when these dogs are very slow to start which means they are no good for lads that want there dog up and running early.if there were more lads running this breed we might get a few good ones and be able to save this old breed from these pet breeders.one thing to point out to lads wanting this breed is names mean nowt people will say owt to sell you a dog see if you can find two dogs doing what these were bred for and if you do you a very lucky man. 3 Quote Link to post
bobza 910
yous lads seen a deerhound run you cannt compare with a bullx the deerhounds will run uneven ground flat out were the bullx would break its back Quote Link to post

dai dogs 1,614
Not a cookland cross Bull type x deerhound and not for the inpatient hunting type of guy Very slow to mature but loyal as a collie Quote Link to post
MickC 1,825
The best Deerhound I have seen with my own eyes was a Wilkinson bred bitch my mate owned, and this bitch lived right on the hills way up North. My mate had her from a pup to breed back into his own line as it was getting a bit tight and needed an outcross, unfortunately he lent it to a mate and some toff shot it.I had seen this bitch run loads of times out in the true wilds never in parks, and the ground it covered and the way it done it was quite a sight. She was ran with other various Deerhound cross lurchers that were very decent dogs in there own right but this bitch was a level above. DanRaistrick 53
Don't know Trevor personally but what a shame about Wallace, heard he was a great dog. Hopefully the pups from Wallace turn out well so he can carry on his line. 1 Quote Link to post
